Marquette Drops a 3-0 Contest to No. 22 San Diego

HONOLULU -- The Marquette University women's volleyball team concluded the 2017 Rainbow Wahine Invitational at the University of Hawaii, falling in straight sets (25-20, 25-19, 25-18) to No. 22 San Diego on Sunday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles (1-2) were led by Allie Barber with 13 kills and a .364 hitting percentage, while redshirt sophomore Jenna Rosenthal connected on seven kills, freshman Hope Werch six kills and junior Anna Haak adding five.
The Toreros had two players with double digit kills, led by Jayden Kennedy with 12, while Kaity Edwards recorded 10, while San Diego combined to hit .311 as a team.
The Golden Eagles will take to the road once again and travel to Indianapolis for a tournament hosted by IUPUI. MU will open Friday, Sept. 1 against Miami (Ohio) at 3:30 p.m. CT, followed by Wichita State and IUPUI at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. CT, respectively.
