INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Marquette women's volleyball team closed out the IUPUI Hampton Invitational on a high note as the Golden Eagles defeated the host Jaguars, 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-22, 25-16) on Saturday evening.

Redshirt junior Jenna Rosenthal and sophomore Allie Barber were named to the All-Tournament team as Rosenthal connected on 16 kills and hit .424 in the match, while Barber connected on a match-high 21 kills. Sophomore Lauren Speckman closed out a stellar setting weekend with 52 assists and her third double-double of the year with 13 digs, while freshman Marth Konovodoff collected 27 digs.

Freshman Hope Werch and junior Anna Haak also contributed offensively as Werch tallied eight kills and turned around defensively with a career-high 19 digs. Haak connected on seven kills.

Marquette (3-3) won the first set, 25-19, but faltered in the second frame, 22-25. The Golden Eagles trailed IUPUI (2-5) 6-3 early in the third set and traded points with the Jaguars through a tie at 21-21. Barber and Werch helped score the final points for MU and closed the third with a 25-22 win. The Golden Eagles stormed out in the fourth set to win with ease, 25-16.

The Jaguars were led by Kori Waelbroeck with 14 kills as Jessica Helms added 21 digs.

The Golden Eagles will play their home opener on Friday, Sept. 8 hosting Loyola Chicago at 7 p.m. Central time at the Al McGuire Center as part of the annual Marquette Invitational.
