SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-- Led by a career-high 30 kills from Taylor Louis, the Marquette University women's volleyball team bested Missouri State, 3-1 (25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24) to conclude the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational on Saturday night.

Louis was named MVP of the tournament as the redshirt freshman averaged 6.07 kills through the three matches. Juniors Sara Blasier and Lauren Houg were selected to the all-tournament team.

Redshirt freshman Jenna Rosenthal and redshirt junior Meghan Niemann tallied 13 and 12 kills, respectively for the Golden Eagles (5-1). Rosenthal also posted six blocks against the Bears (5-1) as Marquette combined for 10 team blocks. Blasier dished out 56 assists to her teammates, while Houg totaled 22 digs.

Missouri State was led by Ashley Ophoven with 16 kills.

The Golden Eagles took the first two sets, but fell in a tightly contested third set as the Bears fought to extend the match to four sets. In the fourth frame the teams traded points back-and-forth as the score was tied 18 different times throughout the set. Junior Joy Miley gave MU set point following a kill at 24-23, but Missouri State was able to fend off the attack until consecutive kills from Miley and Niemann locked up the match win.

The Golden Eagles are back in action next weekend and will embark on their third straight road trip traveling to Laramie, Wyoming Friday, Sept. 11 to face Wyoming at 1 p.m. CT in the Pistol Pete Showdown.
