For her play over the weekend, senior middle hitter Rabbecka Gonyo was named to the all-tournament squad for the third time in as many weeks. Gonyo recorded 12 kills on Sunday and an attack percentage of .524 (12 kills, 1 error, 21 attacks).

The Golden Eagles struck early and often against the Rockets in the first set, recording a .464 attack percentage in the stanza with six kills from Gonyo and four from Jones. MU jumped out to an early 14-7 lead to force a Toledo timeout and after another Rocket timeout at 20-12, took its largest lead at 21-12 on a Gonyo kill. The Rockets fell 25-16 after hitting just .118 (12-8-34) in the opening frame.

In the second set, Toledo held MU to an attack percentage of .179 (14-7-39), its lowest of the afternoon, to pull out a 25-23 set victory. Cassie Kleespies and Jordan Kielty led the Rockets with four kills each in the frame.

Marquette regained its composure out of the intermission to take a 2-1 advantage into the fourth set with a 25-23 victory. Senior setter Nikki Klingsporn assisted on 19 of the Golden Eagles 20 kills in the third.

After a Danielle Carlson attack error in the fourth put Toledo ahead 3-2, Marquette reeled off the next six points to build a 8-3 lead. The Golden Eagles were able to hold on from there to take the set and the match 25-17. Seven of MU's points in the final frame came off kills from Beyer.

The Rockets were paced in the match by 15 kills from Amber DeWeerdt.
