MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's volleyball team picked up its second victory on Saturday with a 25-12, 25-22, 18-25, 26-24 victory over the University of Texas at San Antonio in the finale of the Marquette Invitational at the Al McGuire Center.

The Golden Eagles (6-3) finished as tournament runner-up with a record of 3-1 and had outside hitter Nele Barber and libero Lauren Houg earn all-tournament recognition.

Barber posted 15 kills in the victory, while Marquette was led by 16 kills from classmate Autumn Bailey, who also notched 11 digs and four aces. Redshirt sophomore Meghan Niemann and senior right side Lindsey Gosh continued to lead MU at the net with seven blocks apiece, while Barber posted five blocks. Houg picked up 21 digs for the second time in as many matches.

Sophomore outside hitter Dajana Boskovic, who was UTSA's all-tournament honoree, put up a match-high 22 kills along with 16 digs and six blocks. The Roadrunners (2-6) hit .200 for the match after struggling to a -.040 hitting percentage in the first set.

Bailey gave UTSA all it could handle early from the service line in the opening set, forcing the Roadrunners into their first timeout of the match with MU leading 6-1. The Golden Eagles went on to build a 14-3 edge before UTSA called its final timeout and led by as many as 14 points in the frame. Barber paced MU in the first with four kills while MU hit a combined .333 as a team.

Marquette, which hit just .100 in the second set, mounted a furious comeback in the frame, scoring the final six points for a 25-22 victory. Bailey posted a pair of aces in the frame's final six points, while MU also received kills from Barber and Lindsey Gosh during the stretch.

UTSA hit a blistering .548 to take the third set 25-18 with a frame-high eight kills from Boskovic, while Dempsey Thornton also added seven.

The Golden Eagles fought off set point once in the fourth set after a Gabby Benda service error and closed out the match with kills from Gosh and Teal Schnurr, while the pair also combined on a block to close out the match.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, Sept. 19 at Florida and will also face UCF and Jacksonville on Sept. 20-21 during their stay in the Sunshine State.
