MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's volleyball team cruised to a 25-18, 25-14, 25-18 sweep of Iowa Saturday afternoon in its second match of the Marquette Invitational at the Al McGuire Center. The Golden Eagles will face Milwaukee in the tournament finale at 7 p.m. 

Marquette (8-3) was led in kills by senior standout Danielle Carlson and sophomore Lindsey Gosh, who both registered 10 kills. Senior Kelsey Mattai had six kills and hit .600 with no errors. 

Iowa (8-5) was led by 12 kills from freshman Erin Radke.

The Golden Eagles claimed the opening frame, 25-18, while hitting .364 as a team. Four MU players notched at least four kills in the set, including a game-high five from Carlson. MU took its largest lead of the frame at 21-12 on a service ace from Elizabeth Koberstein, one of a pair for the Madison, Wis., native in the stanza. Koberstein also recorded 16 assists in the first.

The Hawkeyes hit -.057 in the second set with nine errors on 35 attacks as the Golden Eagles took the frame rather easily, 25-14.

Marquette improves to 3-2 all-time against Iowa, while Marquette head coach Bond Shymansky is now 2-1 in his career against his alma matter. 

Pacific, which went 3-0 on the weekend, cliched the Marquette Invitational title with a 3-1 victory over Milwaukee Saturday morning.
