The Golden Eagles rolled out to an easy 7-3 lead in the first set and held a 12-7 advantage when the Cyclones called their first timeout. Louis gave the Golden Eagles set point after smashing a kill, 24-20, and followed that to land the winning point, 25-21.

Mosher and Barber connected on back-to-back kills in the third set, which put MU in front, 8-4 and forced the Cyclones to call timeout. After the break the Golden Eagles continued to capitalize on Iowa State errors and used a focus offensive attack to extend the lead, 15-8. Blasier secured match point with a kill and the 25-15 win.
