Louis' 28 kills leads MU past Missouri State, 3-1

MILWAUKEE - Behind 28 kills from redshirt sophomore Taylor Louis, the Marquette University women's volleyball team claimed a 3-1 victory over Missouri State on Saturday evening at the Al McGuire Center.
With the victory, the Golden Eagles (10-2) claimed the crown in the Marquette Invitational, which they hosted Friday and Saturday at the Al. MU also defeated Iowa State on Friday night and Milwaukee earlier Saturday afternoon.
Senior setter Sara Blasier contributed eight kills, 42 assists, 10 digs and six blocks in the victory as MU hit a combined .269 for the match.
Along with Blasier, Niemann and redshirt sophomore Jenna Rosenthal also added six blocks. Niemann now has 362 career assisted blocks and needs just two more to tie the record set by Martha Meyer (1994-97) and Rabbecka Gonyo (2007-10).
Niemann added 10 kills and hit .391, while Rosenthal landed eight kills and hit an even .500 clip.
Missouri State (8-5) took the first set, 25-21, before Marquette responded to claim the final three in order 25-18, 25-13, 25-23 to take the contest. In the third set, Louis nailed 11 of her 28 kills and committed no errors, helping MU to a .350 hitting percentage combined as a team.
Lily Johnson led the Bears with 17 kills.
