Marquette Sweeps Milwaukee 25-15, 25-17, 25-14

MILWAUKEE - Lindsey Gosh led the Marquette University women's volleyball team to a 25-15, 25-17, 25-14 sweep over the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center with match highs of 13 kills and six service aces.
The Golden Eagles, who improve to 6-4 on the season, received 11 kills from freshman Autumn Bailey and 10 digs from senior libero Julie Jeziorowski in addition to Gosh's contributions. Gosh and Jeziorowski were both named to All-Marquette Invitational following play on Sunday.
Freshman outside hitter Myanna Ruiz paced the Panthers (4-8) with six kills on the afternoon and libero Taylor Golabowski added 10 digs.
The Golden Eagles built an early 5-1 lead in the opening set and hit a combined .500 (16-2-28) on their way to a 25-15 victory. Bailey led MU with a frame-high six kills on 12 errorless swings while Gosh also added four kills and an ace.
Marquette took the second set 25-17 despite being out-hit .250 to .214 in the frame. Milwaukee jumped out to a five-point lead, 11-6, in the second before Marquette took its first advantage at 13-12 on consecutive service aces from Gosh. Bailey, Gosh and freshman Nele Barber each notched a set-high three kills for the Golden Eagles, while UWM's Myanna Ruiz led all players with four kills.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 10-5 lead out of the break and held on for a 25-14 win to complete the sweep.
Despite the loss, Milwaukee still leads the all-time series 46-29-1 against the Golden Eagles, but MU has captured the last seven meetings.
Marquette returns to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Al McGuire Center against Illinois State.
Florida senior middle blocker Chloe Mann earned most valuable player honors after leading to the Gators to the tournament title with victories over MU and UWM this weekend.
