The Golden Eagles took the second set by the same margin as the first, 25-15, although they hit almost 300 points lower in the frame. MU led by just four points midway through the stanza, 16-12, before going on a 7-1 run to take full control at 23-13. Bailey and Erin Lehman each posted four kills in the second to lead MU.
Despite an 8-1 deficit out of the break to begin the third set, Marquette rallied to claim a sweep with a 25-12 victory. The Golden Eagles used a 17-1 run to close out the match and were paced by Gosh, who landed five kills on eight errorless swings.
PC led 11-8 in the third before Marquette grabbed control on Gosh's first kill of the set. The Golden Eagles took the next eight points with Houg serving, and after a Marina Rose kill for the Friars, Gosh closed out the match at the service line with the next nine points.
Marquette won the only other meeting between the two squads, a 3-2 triumph on Sept. 10, 1999 in the Marquette Challenge.
MU is 8-2 all-time in BIG EAST lid-lifters.
