MILWAUKEE--The Marquette University women's volleyball team continued its winning ways with a 3-1 (20-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-21) victory over Butler on Wednesday night at the Al McGuire Center.

The Golden Eagles (10-5, 2-1) were led by junior Sara Blasier who recorded her fifth double-double of the season dishing out 38 assists with a career-high 17 digs. Redshirt freshman Taylor Louis connected on a match-high 20 kills, while junior Joy Miley slammed 12 kills and hit .455 with just two errors. Redshirt junior Meghan Niemann and junior Teal Schnurr each posted nine kills. Junior Lauren Houg collected 16 digs, while classmate Ellen Hays and freshman Riley Burchett each tallied 14 digs.

Marquette faltered in the first set before storming out to an early lead in the second frame. After holding a 15-12 advantage, the Golden Eagles closed out the set with a 10-2 run and hit a match-high .448. The Bulldogs (5-11, 2-2) smashed a kill to tie the third set at 4-4, but MU had another run, going 10-2 again connecting on multiple kills before Butler called a timeout. Out of the break, the Bulldogs used some offensive momentum, but it was not enough as Marquette claimed the third set. The two squads traded points in the fourth set until the Golden Eagles broke an 18-18 tie on kills from Louis and did not trail again as a miscue from Butler secured the match victory in four sets.

Marquette combined to hit .309 in the match, while holding Butler to .207 and also notched 71 digs.

The Golden Eagles will hit the road for a four match road swing beginning Friday, Oct. 2 at Villanova. First serve is slated to begin at 6 p.m. Central time.
