VILLANOVA, Pa.--The Marquette University women's volleyball team faltered on the road at Villanova Friday evening, falling 3-0 (22-25, 19-25, 21-25) to the Wildcats.

The Golden Eagles (10-6, 2-2) were led by redshirt freshman Taylor Louis who recorded her fifth double-double of the year posting a match-high 13 kills with 11 digs. Classmate Jenna Rosenthal recorded six kills and four blocks in the match, while junior libero Lauren Houg collected 16 digs. Junior Sara Blasier handed out 26 assists and Ellen Hays posted 12 digs.

The Wildcats (12-4, 2-1) jumped out to a quick lead in the first set as Marquette called a timeout trailing 7-3. After trailing 19-10, the Golden Eagles rallied with a 10-1 run and tied the frame at 20 each before Villanova closed the set with a kill for the win. Marquette came out strong in the second set, but gave up a 6-1 run to `Nova and was trailing 10-8 after consecutive kills from the Wildcats. The teams traded points with each other before the Golden Eagles allowed another offensive run from Nova to close out the set.

In the third set, Marquette seem poised to come out firing and led 13-12 after three straight kills from Louis, but Villanova had another surge left scoring five unanswered points and closed out the final set on a kill by Allie Loitz.

Claire Crutchfield and Loitz led Villanova with 13 and 11 kills, respectively.

While neither team hit well in the match, Villanova held Marquette to just a .155 clip, while hitting .209.

The Golden Eagles have a quick turnaround and will play at Seton Hall Saturday, Oct. 3 beginning at 5 p.n. CT.
