MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's volleyball team notched a 25-14, 25-19, 25-21 sweep over Butler University on Friday evening at the Al McGuire Center to keep pace atop the BIG EAST Conference standings.

Senior right-side hitter Lindsey Gosh led the Golden Eagles (18-6, 9-3 BIG EAST) with 13 kills and hit a combined .462.Sophomore outside hitter Autumn Bailey also reached double-digits with 11 kills, while junior outside Erin Lehman tallied nine. Lehman also made her first start since Aug. 30 and pitched in a season-high four digs and three blocks.

Stephanie Kranda led the Bulldogs with seven kills. Butler (16-8, 8-4 BIG EAST) finished with a combined hitting percentage of just .103 and never hit above .152 in any set.

Marquette closed out the opening set on a 21-6 run to secure a 25-14 victory. MU head coach Ryan Theis called his first timeout with the Golden Eagles trailing 8-4 and from that point on MU overtook BU 10-9 and continued to build its lead throughout.

Bailey and Gosh paced MU with four kills in the first to help the team hit a combined .353. Butler tallied six kills and six attack errors to finish with a hitting percentage of .000.

A 6-0 run midway through the second set propelled the Golden Eagles to a 25-19 victory. After Butler took its largest lead of the frame at 11-8 on a Kranda kill, four-consecutive BU miscues put MU ahead 12-11. Marquette would add another two points on a Nele Barber service ace and Lehman kill for its sixth-straight point as the Bulldogs called their first timeout.

Gosh led all hitters in the second stanza with five kills on eight error-less swings.

Marquette closed out its 12th sweep of the season with a 25-21 third-set victory after breaking free from a 21-all tie. MU built a 20-15 lead before the Bulldogs caught up to knot the frame, but MU was able to prevail as Gosh put an exclamation point on the victory with her 13th kill to end the match.

The contest was a rematch of an Oct. 15 contest at Butler in which the Bulldogs won 3-2 after Marquette led a 2-1 advantage slip away. Bailey notched new career highs of 30 kills and 25 digs in that match at the Health and Recreation Center.

The Golden Eagles are back at the Al McGuire Center on Saturday, Nov. 1 against Xavier at 6 p.m. CT in a match broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network through FOX Sports GO. Patrick Reed (play-by-play) and Bob Brainerd (analyst) will have the call for MU's third BEDN broadcast of the season.
