MILWAUKEE -- Backed by 25 kills each from sophomore Allie Barber and junior Anna Haak, the Marquette University women's volleyball team took down Villanova in a 3-2 (25-14, 25-27, 25-10, 20-25, 15-11) battle on Saturday night at the Al McGuire Center.

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 20-8 overall and 14-3 in the BIG EAST. This is the eighth consecutive season that MU has recorded 20-or more victories in a season.

Barber and Haak led the Golden Eagles with 25 kills each, a career-high mark for Haak, while she also recorded her fifth double-double of the season adding a career-high-tying 23 digs. Sophomore Lauren Speckman tallied her team-high seventh double-double of the campaign with 57 assists and 14 digs.

Redshirt junior Jenna Rosenthal totaled 10 digs, while putting up six blocks. Freshman Martha Konovodoff and sophomore Madeline Mosher also totaled double digit digs with 13 and 11, respectively.

The Golden Eagles used a 9-1 run in the first set to take control and claim a 25-14 victory, but Villanova (16-11, 9-7) responded in the second set claiming a 27-25 win to even the match at 1-1.

In the third set Marquette used .452 hitting to a 25-10 rout over the Wildcats, while holding Villanova to just a .071 clip, but once again the Wildcats responded and evened the match at two sets apiece with a 25-20 win in the fourth frame.

Marquette opened the fifth set with a strong 9-2 advantage after Villanova notched three consecutive attack errors. Mosher found the floor for a kill at 12-7 and Rosenthal sealed the win with a final kill and the 15-11 win.

Marquette combined to hit .318 as a team with a .444 clip from Haak, while holding the Wildcats to just a .193 mark in the match.

Villanova was led by Remy Fairchild with 17 kills and 12 digs, while Allison Fitzgerald collected 25 digs.

Marquette concludes the 2017 regular season on Saturday, Nov. 18 at DePaul with first serve slated for 1 p.m. CT, live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
