Marquette Falls at Xavier, 3-1

CINCINNATI, Ohio--The Marquette University women's volleyball team closed out the 2015 regular season with a 3-1 (30-32, 22-25, 25-19, 25-19) loss at Xavier on Saturday evening at the Cintas Center.
Taylor Louis led Marquette (21-10, 12-6) with 17 kills, while Joy Miley notched 13 in the match. Setter Sara Blasier recorded her 12th double-double of the season, dishing out 41 assists and totaling 13 digs. Teal Schnurr scollected a career-high 13 digs, while libero Lauren Houg posted 18.
Marquette stormed out to a 17-9 lead in the first set and was looking strong after a 10-2 run, but the Golden Eagles allowed Xavier (18-11, 14-4) to mount a comeback and pull within four points, 18-14. MU held set point at 24-19 after a Musketeer service error, but gave up the lead as the match was extended after the teams traded points until Xavier closed out the set at 32-30.
Though the Golden Eagles led early again in the second set, Xavier did not relent and pushed its way to a 25-22 victory in the frame. The Golden Eagles held strong in the third frame and pushed to a 25-19 victory before Xavier completely took over in the fourth set early with a 17-8 lead. MU mounted a comeback and had pulled to 23-17 and held off match point for three points before the Musketeers closed out the match.
Marquette has earned the No. 4 seed in the 2015 BIG EAST Tournament. The Golden Eagles will face No. 1 seed, and host, Creighton on Friday, Nov. 27 at 12:30 p.m. Central time at D.J. Sokol Arena. The semifinals will air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network with the final on FS2 on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. CT.
