Marquette Volleyball Announces Spring Schedule
Feb. 6, 2013
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's volleyball team has announced its upcoming schedule for the 2013 spring season, which includes competition against Milwaukee, Northwestern and a pair of tournaments, one of which will be held at the Al McGuire Center.
Admission to every home spring contest is free and open to all.
Marquette will open the spring campaign against Milwaukee at the Al McGuire Center at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 7. The cross-town foes have competed against each other three times during the spring season since 2009. The last regular season match-up between the Golden Eagles and Panthers resulted in a Marquette sweep on Oct. 30 at the Klotsche Center.
Milwaukee will return to the Al McGuire Center on Saturday, March 30 as Marquette hosts an all-day tournament in which the Golden Eagles will compete against the Panthers, Illinois State and Green Bay, among others. It will be the first time former MU assistant coach Michaela Franklin will return to the Al McGuire Center since taking over as head coach of Green Bay in mid-January.
The team will then travel to Aurora, Ill., to compete in the Great Lakes Center's Colligate Challenge Saturday, April 6. Last year, the Golden Eagles won the silver division championship with wins over Notre Dame and Bradley. Outside hitter Lindsey Gosh registered 32 kills for the day of competition.
Marquette returns to the Al McGuire Center to conclude the spring season against Northwestern on Thursday, April 11, at 7 p.m. The Wildcats topped the Golden Eagles, 3-1, in the 2012 Marquette Challenge title match during last year's regular season.
Marquette begins spring play following an impressive 27-7 regular season record and back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship.
