Volleyball Announces Spring Schedule
Feb. 19, 2010
MILWAUKEE - Head coach Bond Shymansky and the Marquette University women's volleyball team have announced their schedule for the spring season, including five home matches at the Al McGuire Center. All events are free and open to the public. "Returning so many starters next fall, we really think it is important to ramp up and compete strongly this spring, to tweak a few things and naturally to improve in general," head coach Bond Shymansky said. "We are confident that our spring schedule will give us a hunger for facing a higher level of competition and is going to provide us with a great opportunity to find out what we are made of." The Golden Eagles open the spring season over the University's spring break in Orlando, Fla., with matches on March 20 against both Central Florida and BIG EAST-foe USF. Marquette will return home for a match against Iowa on Sat., March 27. The Hawkeyes defeated MU, 3-1, during the 2009 fall season at the Loyola Invitational on Aug. 29. Iowa is also Shymansky's alma mater. The following weekend the Golden Eagles will welcome four opponents to the Al McGuire Center who they will see in the fall of 2010. Marquette will play Green Bay, Milwaukee, Northwestern and Illinois-Chicago. For its second tournament of the spring, Marquette will travel to Minneapolis, Minn., on April 10.
