MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's lacrosse team kicked off its first weekend of spring competition on Saturday, March 21 at Aquinas College's Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center in the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Volleyball Showcase.

The Golden Eagles, who are coming off their fourth-straight NCAA Championship appearance in 2014, played matches against Western Michigan (W, 2-0), the University of Michigan (L, 2-0) and Michigan State (L, 2-1), with valuable experience gained by freshman redshirts Jenna Rosenthal, Taylor Louis and new transfer setter Sarah Blaiser.

"It was great to see Taylor, Jenna and Sarah get on the court and play for us against other squads," Marquette head coach Ryan Theis said. "All our players are doing a nice job learning their new roles for this upcoming fall and after one week of spring practice, we can see some improvement individually. This is a hard working group."

Marquette resumes spring competition on Saturday, March 28 in DeKalb, Illinois against Northern Illinois University, Loyola-Chicago, Milwaukee, UNI, Green Bay and Saint Louis.
