Women's Volleyball Announces Spring Schedule

MILWAUKEE—The Marquette University women’s volleyball team has announced its spring schedule against an assortment of midwestern teams highlighted by a contest against in-state rival Wisconsin.

Marquette will also host an open practice with the Badgers on Friday, April 6 at the Al McGuire Center beginning at 4:30 p.m. Central time. Doors will be unlocked from 4 to 7 p.m. and there is no charge to attend. The teams will be conducting joint drills against each other in a friendly practice environment.

The Golden Eagles open play at Northern Illinois April 14 and with a collection of teams from the area. The Huskies struggled last season, going just 8-23 but boast All-MAC First Team selections Kaylee Martin and Meg Wolowicz.

Marquette continues spring play a week later at UIC April 21 once again with a selection of local teams. The Flames took home a 17-13 record for the 2017 season and return All-Horizon League First Team player Kyisha Hunt and All-Freshmen team selections Manuela Conte and Alexandria Hicks.

Finally, the Golden Eagles close the month of April at perennial powerhouse Wisconsin, with first serve slated for 7 p.m. Central time April 27. The Badgers ended the 2017 season 22-10 and ranked No. 12 in the country. They return first team All-American and National Freshman of the Year Dana Rettke and made the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.

Marquette returns all but graduating senior Manon Geoffroy from last season’s squad that finished with a 22-10 record en route to its seventh-straight NCAA Tournament and a second-place finish in the BIG EAST.
