Rosenthal Named To Roster of U.S. Women’s CNT-Europe

April 11, 2017

MILWAUKEE – Redshirt sophomore, and member of Marquette University’s women’s volleyball team, Jenna Rosenthal, was named to the U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team Europe Tour (CNT-Europe) roster, as announced by USA Volleyball on Monday afternoon.

Student-athletes were selected through the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryouts at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., which were held March 3-5.

“We are very excited about Jenna’s opportunity for another overseas trip with USA Volleyball,” said Marquette head coach Ryan Theis. “Jenna has put forth a lot of effort, energy, and sweat, into becoming a great volleyball player.”

Last summer, Rosenthal had a similar opportunity, playing for the U.S. Collegiate National Team, embarking on a nearly two-week tour of China. During the trip, Rosenthal aided the United States to a win over the Chinese professional league team, Jiangsu Zhongtian, registering seven points with four blocks.

This summer, the CNT-Europe team will compete in the 13th Annual European Global Challenge from July 11-14, in Pula, Croatia. Before the Global Challenge, the CNT-Europe team will train in Maribor, Slovenia, while playing friendly matches against numerous national teams.

The Fond du Lac, Wis., native earned All-BIG EAST First Team honors following her sophomore campaign with Marquette in 2016. During 2016, Rosenthal posted a league-high .416 hitting percentage, to go along with 1.41 blocks per contest in BIG EAST competition. Rosenthal also was named as an AVCA All-East Coast Region honoree by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Rosenthal was one of three middles selected to the squad, and joined Brittany Witt (Creighton) as the only two members of the BIG EAST Conference selected.

“We are happy she has been recognized for her hard work and athletic abilities,” said Theis. “Jenna has a very high ceiling and she is working her way to the top, one step at a time.”
