MILWAUKEE – The Marquette Golden Eagles’ volleyball team will continue its spring schedule as it faces off against Illinois at Mother McAuley High School in Chicago on Saturday, April 16 with the match beginning at 2 p.m. Central time.

Marquette will look to bounce back from a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Wisconsin Badgers last weekend. This weekend’s showdown marks both Illinois’ and Marquette’s third match of the spring season.

Taylor Louis leads the Golden Eagles into Chicago after she tallied 12 kills in the loss to Wisconsin. Sara Blasier also had a strong offensive showing, dishing 26 assists. On the defensive side, libero Lauren Houg had 10 digs while Riley Burchett and Ellen Hays picked up seven digs each.

Illinois finished last season with a 21-13 overall record and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament before falling in straight sets to eventual semifinalist Minnesota. National team tryout invitee Jordyn Poulter leads the Fighting Illini into Saturday’s match.

After the face-off with Illinois, Marquette will head home to the Al McGuire Center and wrap-up the spring slate with a rematch against Wisconsin on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 p.m. CT. Admission is free for all and the first 100 students will receive free Chick-Fil-A.
