MILWAUKEE - After completing a perfect spring campaign, the Marquette University women's volleyball team will look to continue its success in 2010, competing in one of the most challenging schedules in program history. The Golden Eagles will match-up against eight teams that played in the 2009 NCAA Tournament, including national semifinalist Minnesota.

A seasoned Golden Eagle squad will have to be effective on the road in 2010. Nineteen of Marquette's 30 matches, including the first six contests of the season, will be played on neutral or road courts. MU will face three opponents on the road who concluded the 2009 season ranked in the AVCA Coaches Top-25 Poll in Minnesota (No. 4), Stanford (No. 7) and St. Mary's (Calif.) (No. 22).

The Golden Eagles will kick-off the season Aug. 27-28 at the Golden Gopher Invite, hosted by the University of Minnesota. MU will play Stony Brook Friday evening before facing Denver and Minnesota on Saturday. During the 2010 spring campaign, Marquette defeated Minnesota, 2-1, in Minneapolis.

The following weekend the Golden Eagles will travel to California on Sept. 3-4 to compete in the Stanford Invitational, testing their skills against UC Irvine and Stanford. On Sept. 5, MU will travel to Moraga, Calif. to play St. Mary's (Calif.).

Marquette will compete at the Al McGuire Center for the first time on Sept. 10-12, when the Golden Eagles host the Marquette Invitational. MU will play Creighton on Fri., Sept. 10 and the UW-Milwaukee on Saturday before hosting Toledo Sunday afternoon. Marquette will also host a match that pits the University of Wisconsin against Central Michigan on Sat., Sept. 11 at 11 a.m.

MU will wrap up early-season tournament play at the Northwestern Invitational Sept. 17-18 in Evanston, Ill. Marquette will take on Harvard for the first time in program history on Sept. 17 and play Charlotte and Northwestern on Sept. 18.

For the third-consecutive season, the Golden Eagles will begin BIG EAST play on the road. Marquette will travel to Tampa, Fla. on Sept. 24 for its conference opener against the USF Bulls before it travels on Sun., Sept. 26 to Washington, D.C. to take on Georgetown.

Marquette will travel to Philadelphia to play Villanova on Friday, Oct. 1 before taking on 2009 NCAA tournament participant Pennsylvania for the first time in program history.

The Golden Eagles will kick-off a two-game homestand, their first of BIG EAST play, on Oct. 8 against St. John's and then Connecticut on Oct. 10.

The next four contests will be on the road as the Golden Eagles travel to Green Bay on Oct. 13, Syracuse on Oct. 16, DePaul on Oct. 23 and BIG EAST regular season champion, Notre Dame, on Oct. 24.

Friday, Oct 29, the Golden Eagles will host West Virginia, followed by another home match against Pittsburgh on Oct. 31.

Marquette will host Illinois-Chicago on Nov. 2, before hitting the road for a pair of conference games. MU will take on Rutgers on Nov. 6 and will travel to Seton Hall the next day. Last season Marquette swept the Scarlet Knights, 3-0, and dropped a 3-2 decision to Seton Hall.

MU will host its last pair of conference matches in mid-November, taking on BIG EAST Tournament champions Louisville and NCAA Tournament participant Cincinnati before the 2010 BIG EAST Championship Nov. 19-21 in Pittsburgh.

Marquette will finish out the regular season against Northern Illinois at the Al McGuire Center on Nov. 27.
