Marquette Celebrates Festa dello Sport in Talamassons

TALAMASSONS, Italy—The Marquette University women’s volleyball team continued its foreign tour with a third match on Sunday morning in Italy.

The squad played against Club Talamassons in the morning as part of the town’s Festa dello Sport celebration. Following that match the Golden Eagles went to an outdoor barbeque and enjoyed delicious pasta and other local foods. The team also exchanged small gifts with the Club Talamassons squad and head coach Ryan Theis was presented with a small token flag. There were many children who enjoyed getting to meet the team and playing games.

In the match the Golden Eagles played well winning three sets before playing a fourth set for fun, which stopped at 15 points. Taylor Louis led MU with 19 kills and a .350 hitting percentage, while Jenna Rosenthal recorded 11 kills for a .556 clip. Amanda Green totaled six kills and hit .385.

The Golden Eagles will spend another night in the Venice area and travel to Trento on Monday morning and play their fourth match later in the day. That will be the team’s final stop in Italy before moving on to Austria and the Czech Republic.
