MU Concludes Matches in Prague

PRAGUE, Czech Republic--The Marquette women’s volleyball Foreign Tour has come to a close on the court as the Golden Eagles wrapped up two matches in Prague on Thursday and Friday.

Thursday’s match against Olymp Praha was exciting as for the second consecutive match Marquette came back from a 2-1 deficit to win the match in five sets (21-25, 25-20, 18-25, 25-18, 15-12) . The Golden Eagles trailed Olymp Praha 8-5 in the fifth set before closing out with a 10-4 run for the victory.

“We are definitely learning something about ourselves on this trip,” head coach Ryan Theis stated. “It was the second time we came back from trailing 2-1 and it was good to see us come from behind in the fifth to walk away with the win.”

Taylor Louis had 12 kills, while Joy Miley notched 11 kills in the win. Jenna Rosenthal served four aces, as Sara Blasier collected nine digs.

On Friday in the final match of the Foreign Tour, Marquette took the court against Olymp Praha and won three sets (25-18, 25-23, 25-17) before dropping the fourth friendly. Through three sets, Louis had 11 kills and hit .400, while Rosenthal added four blocks. The Golden Eagles concluded the Foreign Tour with a 5-1 record.

Marquette will spend the remainder of Friday touring Prague before heading back to the United States on Saturday afternoon. The team is due into Chicago on Saturday around 7 p.m. Central time.
