Marquette Volleyball Fan Fest Set For Aug. 21
Aug. 11, 2010
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's volleyball team will host its second annual Fan Fest at 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 21 at the Al McGuire Center. The event is free to attend and includes food provided by Qdoba, an intra-squad scrimmage and an autograph session with the players and coaches.
“A integral part of our program’s turnaround in my year on the job has been the incredible fan support here at Marquette,” said head coach Bond Shymansky. “This year at the Al McGuire Center we are hoping to create an environment which will be incredibly difficult for any opposing team and the foundation for that starts Aug. 21. We hope everyone will come out to support us as we begin our journey to a BIG EAST Championship.”
Marquette returns five starters from 2009, including All-BIG EAST Second Team members Nikki Klingsporn and Ashley Beyer. The Golden Eagles look to make a significant jump in 2010 behind individual player development and the addition of a nationally-recognized six-person recruiting class.
Marquette opens the 2010 campaign against Stony Brook on Aug. 27 at the Golden Gopher Invite and will face two top-10 programs in Minnesota and Stanford in the season's opening two weekends.
