Marquette Volleyball Announces 2012 Promotions

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women’s volleyball team will host four post-match clinics and its annual Dig Pink match in support of breast cancer research as part of its 2012 promotional schedule.
The Golden Eagles will open the season on Friday, Aug. 24, against Bowling Green in the Marquette Challenge at 7 p.m. and any ticket purchased for that match can be used for admission to Sunday’s contest against Northwestern at 2 p.m. The season opener will celebrate Marquette’s 2011 NCAA Championship appearance, its first in program history, in a brief pre-match ceremony.
The Northwestern match will also feature a Kick-off Party, with kids’ activities and free pizza for the first 200 students.
After spending Labor Day weekend in Cincinnati, Marquette returns on Friday, Sept. 7 to host the Ambassador Hotel Golden Eagle Classic. Free food will be provided to the first 200 students as MU takes on Michigan Friday evening in its second match of the day. The Saturday, Sept. 8 contest versus Wake Forest is Dollar Day, featuring $1 soda, hot dogs and popcorn.
A match against Northern Iowa on Sunday, Sept. 9 will close out the Golden Eagle Classic as MU hosts its first post-match clinic of the year, while also hosting its first camper reunion and team day.
Clinics are open to children in the eighth grade and younger for just $10 and include match admission, a Marquette volleyball t-shirt, team autographs and a snack. Post-match clinics are scheduled to take place Sept. 9 and 22 as well as Oct. 7 and 21. MU will host additional team days on Sept. 15 and Oct. 21.
The following week Milwaukee comes across town for the finale of the Marquette Invitational on Sept. 15 and all fans are encouraged to wear blue for “Bust out your Blue” night when MU takes on the Panthers at 7 p.m.
After opening the BIG EAST Conference schedule against Syracuse on Saturday, Sept. 22, the Golden Eagles will hold their annual Dig Pink night in support of the Side-Out Foundation on its fight against breast cancer on Sunday, Oct. 21 against Louisville.
Fans can pledge their support to the Side-Out Foundation on a per dig basis or by donating a set amount. Pink t-shirts will be available for purchase at the beginning of October for just $10 at any Marquette volleyball match or on GoMarquette.com.
Alumni Weekend will take place Nov. 2 and 4 with matches against Connecticut and St. John’s. Student Fanatic t-shirts will also be distributed during the Nov. 2 match against UConn.
The Golden Eagles conclude the regular season portion of their BIG EAST schedule on Sunday, Nov. 11 against Notre Dame and will honor seniors Danielle Carlson, Carol Henney, Kelsey Mattai and Holly Mertens in a pre-match ceremony.
In addition to individual game promotions, season long promotions include “Eagle of the Day” and group experiences, featuring youth scrimmages and tours of the Al McGuire Center.
