MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's volleyball team will face its second top-10 opponent in as many weeks when MU travels to the Stanford Invitational to face UC Irvine at 8 p.m. Central Time on Friday and No. 3 Stanford at 4 p.m. CT on Saturday. Marquette will then head to St. Mary's (Calif.) to face the Gaels in a 5 p.m. CT Sunday showdown.

Klingsporn on BIG EAST Honor Roll Senior setter Nikki Klingsporn was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, the conference office announced Monday, Aug. 30. Klingsporn led MU to a 2-1 record at the Golden Gopher Invite and registered 40 assists and 10 digs against No. 6 Minnesota. In the first weekend of competition, Klingsporn guided an MU offense which ranked first in the BIG EAST in hitting percentage (.313), kills (14.78 per set) and assists (14.00). The All-BIG EAST Preseason Team selection also leads the conference with 12.44 assists per set.
Golden (State) Girls Return Home Sophomore Kelsey Warner (Folsom, Calif.) and freshman Rachel Stier (San Leandro, Calif.), will make their debut appearances in MU uniforms in their home state this weekend. Warner played with the Northern California Volleyball Club, while Stier suited up for Golden Bear Volleyball. Both are vital components of the Golden Eagles' back row.
Marquette Second at Golden Gopher Invite Marquette finished second at the 2010 Golden Gopher Invite, sweeping Stony Brook and Denver to begin the season before falling to No. 6 Minnesota in the Invite's championship match. Seniors Rabbecka Gonyo and Nikki Klingsporn were each named to the all-tournament team for their play.
Shymansky Searches for 200th Career Victory Bond Shymansky is closing in on his 200th career victory as a head coach and is on pace to reach that number sometime in late September/early October. Shymansky racked up 172 victories with Georgia Tech and won 18 in his first year with Marquette in 2009. He currently has 192 head coaching victories.
