Sept. 26, 2017
Marquette University volleyball’s redshirt junior Jenna Rosenthal is BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
The Golden Eagles went 3-0 in the first stretch of conference play, sweeping Butler, Seton Hall and St. John’s. Rosenthal racked up 3.67 kills per set over the week while hitting a whopping .519. She led MU with 39.0 points and added 12 assisted blocks. On the season, the middle blocker is now averaging 2.82 kills per set to go with her team-high 1.16 blocks per set.
This award marks Rosenthal’s second career player of the week award and first in 2017. Marquette has had a player recognized by the conference each week of the season, headlined by two-time Offensive Player of the Week Allie Barber and a Defensive Player of the Week award for Martha Konovodoff.
The Golden Eagles continue league play at Xavier Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 5 p.m. Central time. The Musketeers are 1-1 in conference play and 6-9 overall.
