MILWAUKEE – Marquette senior setter Elizabeth Koberstein earned the first BIG EAST Conference Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week honor of her career and Autumn Bailey garnered honor roll mention, the league announced on Monday, Sept. 30.

The duo led the Marquette University women’s volleyball team to a pair of five-set victories in the last week over Illinois State and at DePaul.

Koberstein notched a league-high 69 assists in the victory over the Blue Demons as the Golden Eagles hit a combined .387 in the win, the highest hitting percentage in a five-set match this season in the BIG EAST. The senior’s assist total is a career high with the Golden Eagles and is topped only by the Southeastern Conference-record 70 she recorded as a sophomore at Kentucky against Tulsa in 2011.

Bailey continued her impressive play with a career-high 29 kills in the match at DePaul, while hitting .500 in the contest. The freshman outside hitter leads Marquette with 4.07 kills and 4.54 points per set on the season and her 29 kills are the most in a single match by a student-athlete in the BIG EAST this year.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, Oct. 4 at Georgetown and will play at Villanova on Saturday, Oct. 5.
