MILWAUKEE--The Marquette University women's volleyball team will open a four-match road stretch on Friday when the squad travels to Villanova at 6 p.m. CT before moving up the coast to Seton Hall on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 5 p.m. CT.
The Golden Eagles are 10-5 overall and 2-1 in BIG EAST play and have won two straight contests, including a 3-1 decision over Butler on Wednesday evening. Taylor Louis reached 20 kills in the match for the 10th time this season to lead MU, while Joy Miley hit a career-high .455 with 12 kills and just two errors. Junior setter Sara Blasier recorded her fifth double-double this year with a match-high 38 assists and career-best 17 digs. Blasier ranks second in the BIG EAST dishing out 10.60 assists per contest. The Golden Eagles combined for 71 digs against Butler with four players posting double digit digs: Blasier with 17, libero Lauren Houg tallied 16, while junior Ellen Hays and freshman Riley Burchett each posted 14 digs in the victory.
Marquette concluded a six-match homestand in the month of September going 4-2 in that stretch. The Golden Eagles will play four matches on the road before closing out October with another six match home stretch.

VILLANOVA [ 11-4 (1-1 BIG EAST) | villanova.com | @Novavolleyball]: Villanova enters Friday's match with a 1-1 BIG EAST record, picking up a sweep over Georgetown before falling to Creighton in four sets. Setter Emma Pettit recorded her 3,000th assist in the match against Creighton and leads the BIG EAST with 11.27 assists. Offensively, the Wildcats are led by sophomore Allie Loitz who is sixth in the conference in both kills (186) and kills per set (3.58). Series History: Marquette leads 11-1
SETON HALL [ 7-7 (1-1 BIG EAST) | shupirates.com | @SHUvolley]: The Pirates are 7-7 overall and also own a 1-1 mark in league action. Seton Hall dropped a four set match at Creighton last weekend before bounding back with a 3-2 victory over Georgetown. Junior Danielle Schroeder was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll and led the Pirates in kills in both matches last weekend. She had 11 kills at Creighton and 15 kills at Georgetown. MARQUETTE QUICK HITS:
Joy Miley was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll as she led MU with 3.50 kills per set in a 1-1 week for the Golden Eagles. This was the first weekly honor for the junior, but the fifth time in as many weeks that Marquette had a player earn a weekly award. Taylor Louis was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Aug. 31 and Sept. 21 and the BIG EAST honor roll on Sept. 7 and Sept. 14. Redshirt junior Meghan Niemann was selected as BIG EAST Player of the Week on Aug. 31.
Taylor Louis' is third in the NCAA in kills per set with 5.14 and total kills with 298, but she leads the BIG EAST Conference. Also in the top-25 among national rankings is junior libero Lauren Houg who leads the BIG EAST with 5.19 digs per set and ranks 20th in the NCAA. Sara Blasier is second in the league with 10.60 assists per set, while Jenna Rosenthal is fourth in blocks per set with 1.19.
As a squad Marquette is establishing itself as one of the top teams in the BIG EAST Conference. The Golden Eagles are second overall in assists, dishing out 12.98 per set, which is 41st nationally, while the squad is second in digs with 16.61 per contest, which ranks 25th in the NCAA. MU is third in the league with 13.72 kills per set.
MU is in the middle of a six-match homestand to close out the month of September. Since the 2011 season the Golden Eagles are 55-14 at the Al McGuire Center, including an 11-3 record in 2014.
Three different MU players have tallied double-doubles this season. Sara Blasier has recorded five (8/28 vs. North Dakota, 8/29 vs. Dayton, 9/4 vs. Oral Roberts, 9/19 vs. IUPUI, 9/30 vs. Butler), Taylor Louis has also tallied four (9/4 vs. Oral Roberts, 9/5 vs. Miami, 9/18 vs. Wichita State, 9/19 vs. Albany), and Mary Nilles posted one against Northern Colorado on 9/12.
Three of MU's five losses have come in close, five-set matches. The Golden Eagles have played in four matches that went to a fifth set and owns just a 1-3 record when this occurs.
Ellen Hays collected a career-best 21 digs in a win over IUPUI on Sept. 19 which toppled her previous career high of 16 digs.
Taylor Louis posted a career-best 30 kills in a 3-1 victory at Missouri State on Sept. 5, which is the most kills tallied in a four-set match in the NCAA this season and is the third-highest kills total by a BIG EAST player this season. Louis has the third and fourth-highest kills total in a match by a league player.
UP NEXT: After playing at Villanova and Seton Hall, Marquette will remain on the road and travel to Georgetown on Friday, Oct. 9 before concluding the road trip at Creighton on Sunday, Oct. 11, which will air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.

The Marquette University women's volleyball team secured a top-three seed in the BIG EAST Conference tournament with a 25-17, 25-19, 25-19 sweep of Villanova at Jake Nevin Field House.
