NEW YORK -- Marquette University women's volleyball redshirt sophomore Jenna Rosenthal was named BIG EAST Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
The middle hitter led the league in blocks per set with 2.50. Rosenthal helped the Golden Eagles to a 3-0 week, including back-to-back double digit blocking games with 16 blocks against St. John's and 10 blocks against Seton Hall. Her 16 blocks against the Red Storm was a career-best and just three short of a program record.
Rosenthal also hit seven kills with no errors for a career-best .636 clip on Tuesday to help Marquette sweep Xavier. The Fond du Lac, Wisocnsin native recorded 2.54 points per set and 1.92 kills per set over the week.
Marquette returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. Central time against Butler at the Al McGuire Center before heading to DePaul on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. CT.
