Barber Repeats as BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

Oct. 10, 2017

NEW YORK-- Marquette University sophomore Allie Barber has been selected as BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week and fourth time this season, the league office announced on Tuesday.

The outside hitter averaged 6.08 points per set and 6.00 kills per set while hitting .477 percent in another 2-0 week for the Golden Eagles in league play. Barber helped lead the way to Marquette’s 3-0 sweep over then-No. 12 Creighton on Thursday as she tallied 21 kills and just one error in 37 swings. Barber currently leads the league in kills per set (4.87) and points (5.18). MU has not lost a match in league play yet and is on an eight-match winning streak.

Barber's 21 kills against Creighton were a match high in league play last week, and a match high among conference players in a three-set match this year.

Marquette travels to Villanova Saturday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. CT before traveling to Georgetown on Sunday, Oct. 15 for another 1 p.m. CT contest.
