MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's volleyball team will take on Butler in BIG EAST Conference action on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. Central time at the Al McGuire Center.
The Golden Eagles (15-4, 5-2 BIG EAST) have won three straight, including recent wins over St. John's on Friday (3-2) and Seton Hall on Saturday (3-1).
Redshirt sophomore Jenna Rosenthal earned BIG EAST Player of the Week honors after a strong performance against both the Red Storm and the Pirates. The middle hitter led the league in blocks per set (2.50) with a career-best 16 blocks against St. John's. Taylor Louis also registered 19 kills for the Golden Eagles against Seton Hall, leading to her fifth double-double on the season.
Wednesday's match against the Bulldogs (13-9, 2-4 BIG EAST) features two high-profile blocking teams. Marquette ranks second in the conference averaging 2.47 blocks per set, while Butler sets at third, averaging 2.18 blocks per set.
On the offensive end, Butler's Anna Logan is averaging 4.47 kills per set (384 total), good enough for second behind Marquette's Taylor Louis (4.48 kills per set, 309 total). The Bulldogs suffered a five-set defeat to Xavier on Saturday where Logan led the team with 21 kills at a .340 clip. Jessica Klingensmith leads the way in blocks for Butler with 71 on the season and a .95 blocks per set average.
Following Wednesday's match-up, the Golden Eagles will head to Chicago to take on DePaul Saturday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. CT.
