MILWAUKEE--The Marquette University women's volleyball team (16-4, 6-2) takes off down I-94 on Saturday, Oct. 15 for a match at DePaul (11-9, 5-3) slated to begin at 6 p.m. Central time.

Last time out, the Golden Eagles pushed the match to its limits on Wednesday taking Butler to five sets before closing out with a 3-2 victory. Marquette had had four hitters with double digit against the Bulldogs as redshirt sophomore Taylor Louis led the squad with 20 kills, followed by Megan Niemann with 14, Jenna Rosenthal tallied 13, and Allie Barber added 12 kills. Senior libero Lauren Houg delivered a season-best 30 digs for the Golden Eagles.

Marquette Blanks DePaul, 3-0 in Chicago
The Marquette University women's volleyball team has now won six consecutive matches after sweeping DePaul, 25-20, 25-17, 25-20 on Saturday night at McGrath-Phillips Arena.

DePaul will enter Saturday's match after suffering a 3-1 loss to Xaiver, also on Wednesday night. The Blue Demons have only posted one of their five BIG EAST wins at their home court of McGrath-Phillips Arena. DePaul's offense is led by sophomore Brittany Maxwell, who posts a 3.60 kills per set average, while senior Jasmine King has tallied 78 blocks this season, and also claims the top spot in BIG EAST hitting percentage with a .378 clip.

After DePaul's loss on Wednesday, Marquette is now in sole possession of second place in the BIG EAST standings and a win on Saturday would create even more room as the Blue Demons sit in the third slot. The top-four teams advance to the BIG EAST Tournament.

Following the match at DePaul, Marquette will return home and begin the second round of play against BIG EAST opponents. The Golden Eagles will host Providence on Friday, Oct. 21 and Creighton on Saturday, Oct. 22.


Rosenthal Named BIG EAST Player of the Week--Redshirt sophomore Jenna Rosenthal earned BIG EAST Player of the Week on Oct. 10 as she posted back-to-back double digit blocking games. The middle hitter tallied 16 blocks against St. John's and 10 blocks against Seton Hall. Rosenthal's career-best 16 blocks was three short of a program record.

Niemann- Senior CLASS Award Candidate--Meghan Niemann was selected as one of 30 Senior CLASS Award Candidates, it was announced on Thursday. She is Marquette's third candidate in program history and one of five BIG EAST players selected. Of the 30 candidates, it will be narrowed down to 10 finalists with the winner announced in December.

Daily Doubles--Senior setter Sara Blasier and redshirt sophomore Tayor Louis have both tallied multiple double-doubles this season. Blasier has recorded a team-high seven, while Louis has five, including her most recent 19 kills, 13 digs performance in the win at Seton Hall.

RPI Update--The NCAA released an official RPI this week and Marquette moves up to No. 41, second in the conference to Creighton at No. 23.
