Niemann Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

– Marquette University middle hitter Meghan Niemann was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for women’s volleyball after posting a career-best nine blocks in Sunday’s sweep of Georgetown, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

The redshirt sophomore averaged 1.86 blocks per set in matches at Creighton and Georgetown this past weekend and tied a career-best with three digs and a pair of service aces against the Bluejays. Niemann currently sits fifth in the BIG EAST with 1.18 blocks per frame on the season and is also fifth in hitting percentage with a mark of .314.

The Golden Eagles play their next four conference matches at the Al McGuire Center, beginning with a Friday, Oct. 31 contest against Butler at 7 p.m. MU will also host Xavier on Saturday, Nov. 1 in a 6 p.m. match at the Al. The match with the Musketeers will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.

Friday’s match features a costume contest and an MU pillow case giveaway.
