MILWAUKEE -- The Marquette women's volleyball team returns to action this weekend when they play at DePaul on Sat., Nov. 1 at 2 p.m., and on Sun., Nov. 2 at 1 p.m., at Notre Dame.

"DePaul is a nice start to the weekend for us as we have traditionally done well against them," said head coach Pati Rolf. "We are trying to get back to the success we had against St. John's and UWM. We really need to hunker down and execute to achieve those results."

Senior Ashlee Fisher currently leads the team with 3.81 kills per set while freshman middle blocker Tiara Russell and freshman libero Amy Deelo lead the squad with 1.11 blocks per set and 3.57 digs per set, respectively.

"If we balance our offense it takes a lot of pressure off of both of Leslie (Bielski) and Ashlee," Rolf said. "Rabbecka Gonyo is a great player and we have not gotten her enough balls and Katie (Vancura) has done a great job as well. Tiara causes problems for the other squads up front, which is what we will need this weekend."

The Golden Eagles played both teams back-to-back a year ago at the Al McGuire Center, defeating the Fighting Irish, 3-1, on Oct. 12 and the Blue Demons on Oct. 14, by the same score.

DePaul has lost its last two matches against Seton Hall and Villanova and sits in at 3-19 overall and 1-8 in BIG EAST play. The Blue Demons currently are last in the conference in opponent hitting percentage and the Marquette outside hitters will look to take advantage of their deficiency.

"Our challenge is to attack their weaknesses and the youth on their roster," said Rolf. "We need to have a strong serving game to get them out of their offense and block well to disrupt their hitters."

Although DePaul has struggled defensively, they boast some of the top hitters in the BIG EAST as junior Sarah Cullen ranks second in the conference with 3.69 kills per set and sophomore Jacie Fieldler is fourth with a .335 hitting percentage.

After a slow non-conference start, the Irish are back to the top of the BIG EAST with a 6-3 record in BIG EAST play and an overall record of 11-11. Junior Christina Kaelin currently ranks second in BIG EAST play with 4.06 kills per set over 32 sets. Sophomore Kellie Sciacca also ranks second with a .396 hitting percentage in BIG EAST matches.
