MARQUETTE VOLLEYBALL (15-5, 7-1 BIG EAST)
MILWAUKEE - After two consecutive home weekends, the Marquette University women's volleyball team hits the road for a pair of matches at BIG EAST Conference newcomers Butler and Xavier.
The Golden Eagles (15-5, 7-1 BIG EAST) will face Butler on Friday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. Central time at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis before playing Xavier at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati on Saturday, Nov. 2. Saturday's contest is set to begin at 6 p.m. CT and will follow a Xavier men's basketball exhibition game, which is slated for 3 p.m. CT.
Marquette is coming off a perfect 3-0 weekend at the Al McGuire Center in which it did not drop a set, while moving into sole possession of first place in the BIG EAST with a sweep of Creighton on Friday evening. With the win over the Bluejays, MU moved up in Monday's NCAA RPI ranking to 14th in NCAA Division I.
Though it is the first time MU has faced the Bulldogs and Musketeers as members of the BIG EAST, the Golden Eagles have familiarity with both from head coach Bond Shymansky's tenure at MU. Marquette defeated Butler in four sets in Shymansky's first season on the bench in Milwaukee (2009) and captured the 2012 Xavier Invitational championship by sweeping Xavier at the Cintas Center last year.
Both matches this weekend will feature free, live streaming video and statistics, courtesy of ButlerSports.com and GoXaiver.com, respectively.
