Busy Weekend Ahead For Marquette Athletics

MILWAUKEE - A busy weekend in Marquette Athletics will be highlighted by women's soccer NCAA First and Second Round games, men's and women's basketball season openers and the final regular season matches for the women's volleyball team.
The volleyball squad will kick off action Friday as it goes for its 14th-straight victory in a 6 p.m. CT match against Louisville at the Al McGuire Center. The start time of this contest was moved an hour earlier from the original time of 7 p.m. Volleyball will also take on No. 19 Cincinnati at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The No. 12/9-ranked women's soccer team will host its first NCAA Tournament action since the 2006 season Friday when it plays Central Michigan at Valley Fields at 7:30 p.m. Sunday's contest will feature the Marquette/CMU winner taking on the winner of Wisconsin/UW-Milwaukee (5 p.m. Friday at Valley Fields) at 1 p.m. The Golden Eagles are 15-4-2 this season and claimed their second-consecutive BIG EAST American Division title with a perfect 11-0-0 regular season.
The men's basketball team will close out a full slate Friday at 8 p.m. with its season opener against Prairie View A&M at the Bradley Center, and play Bucknell in the first game of the O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic Sunday at 1 p.m.
Saturday's action will feature the season opener for the women's basketball team at 7 p.m. at the Al McGuire Center.
Sunday's volleyball match is the Golden Eagles' 'Dig Pink' match in support of the Side-Out Foundation's fight against breast cancer and seniors Nikki Klingsporn and Rabbecka Gonyo will also be honored in a pre-match ceremony.
