MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women’s volleyball team has earned the No. 3 seed in the BIG EAST Conference Championship for the second consecutive season and will host No. 6 Seton Hall in the quarterfinals at the Al McGuire Center on Friday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.

The eight-team tournament will run Friday, Nov. 18 through Sunday, Nov. 20 at the Al McGuire Center with Sunday’s title match broadcast live at 3 p.m. on ESPNU.

The Golden Eagles (22-8, 12-2 BIG EAST) tied for second in the league with Cincinnati but lost the tiebreaker to the Bearcats as UC topped Marquette, 3-1, on Saturday, Nov. 5 in Cincinnati.

The previous meeting between MU and Seton Hall went five sets on Friday, Oct. 21 as the Golden Eagles responded from a 2-0 deficit behind the senior leadership of Ciara Jones and Ashley Beyer.

Marquette’s 12 BIG EAST victories are a program record, as is the second-place regular season finish.

The Golden Eagles last hosted the conference championship in 2007 as St. John’s captured the crown by sweeping Louisville.

Louisville earned this year’s No. 1 seed by capturing the regular season title with a 13-1 record and will face No. 8 Pittsburgh on Friday at 12:30 p.m.

No. 4 Syracuse will kick off quarterfinal action at the Al McGuire Center at 10 a.m. against No. 5 Notre Dame. The winners of Louisville/Pittsburgh and Syracuse/Notre Dame will face each other in the early semifinal contest Saturday at 1 p.m.

Should Marquette win its quarterfinal contest, it would face the winner of Friday’s 3:30 p.m. matchup of No. 2 Cincinnati and No. 7 Villanova.

Louisville has captured the last three BIG EAST Conference Women’s Volleyball Championship titles and four of the last five overall. The Cardinals have been in the championship match each season since joining the league along with MU in 2005.

All-session tickets are available for $20, while discounted all-session passes for $10 are available for those 18-and-under and 65-and-older.

Adult tickets for Friday’s action can be purchased for $10 with $5 tickets for youth and seniors. Prices for Saturday and Sunday’s action are $7 and $4, respectively.

All students at BIG EAST member institutions are free to attend with their student identification, as are children under two years of age.

Tickets can be purchased at the Marquette Ticket Office (770 N. 12th Street) or by calling (414) 288-4668.
