Ashley Beyer's Play Earns BIG EAST Honor Roll Recognition

MILWAUKEE - Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Beyer was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Volleyball Honor Roll for the second time this season, the league office announced Monday afternoon. Beyer helped the Golden Eagles record a 3-0 sweep of Villanova at the Al McGuire Center Sunday. In the win, Beyer recorded 17 kills along with nine digs, narrowly missing her eighth double-double of the season. The native of Bloomington, Ill., has been a revelation in her first season at Marquette, leading the squad in kills with 373, an average of 3.42 per set. Beyer also ranks among the team leaders with 34 service aces and 236 digs. In BIG EAST play, Beyer's numbers have improved even though she has spent a great deal of time in the back row. Entering last weekend, she ranked fourth in the conference in kills per set (3.94) and fifth in points (4.46/set), while leading the conference in total kills (198). She ended the season with 206 total kills in BIG EAST Play. Beyer and the Golden Eagles will return to action Fri., Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. against Central Michigan at the Al McGuire Center.
