MU Set for Sixth Straight NCAA Appearance

MILWAUKEE--The Marquette University women's volleyball team, making its sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Volleyball Tournament, will take on No. 25 Washington State (21-11) on Thursday, Dec. 1, in Madison, Wisconsin at the UW Fieldhouse.

MU (23-8) has been led this season by Taylor Louis, who tallied 519 kills (4.44 per set) during the season, placing her 19th in the NCAA. On the defensive end, senior libero Lauren Houg leads the Golden Eagles with 525 digs (4.49 per set) on the season, finishing in second place in the BIG EAST conference.
Marquette placed four players on the First Team All-BIG EAST, which included Co-Freshman of the Year, Allie Barber, who compiled a .318 hitting percentage, which ranked 11th in the league. Barber was joined on the first team by Louis, Jenna Rosenthal, and Meghan Niemann.
The Golden Eagles have advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament three times, including last season when the squad defeated Northern Iowa, 3-2 in the first round before falling to No. 2 seed Minnesota, 3-0.
WSU is making its 11th overall trip to the NCAA Tournament, and first under sixth-year head coach Jen Greeny. WSU is led by Kyra Holt who has recorded 450 kills (3.72 per set) this season, while also adding 275 digs (2.27 per set).
The winner will face the winner of No. 3 seed and host Wisconsin/Howard. That match will air live on the Big Ten Network on Friday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. CT.
