Sophomore Duo Selected to AVCA All-East Coast Region

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Marquette University women's volleyball redshirt sophomores Taylor Louis and Jenna Rosenthal were named to the AVCA All-East Coach Region team, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced on Tuesday afternoon, while redshirt senior Meghan Niemann was an honorable mention selection.
Louis earns her second consecutive all-region award as she recorded 537 kills en route to becoming the fastest player in Marquette history to reach the 1,000-kill plateau. She totaled seven matches with at least 20 kills and earned her second consecutive unanimous All-BIG EAST first team selection. The Skokie, Illinois native led the BIG EAST with 4.50 kills per set in league matches and recorded nine double-doubles this season.
Rosenthal earns her first all-region honor and finished the season averaging 2.30 kills and 1.22 blocks, while picking up an All-BIG EAST First Team award. She established herself as one of the best middle blockers in the BIG EAST with 1.41 blocks in league play and BIG EAST-best .416 hitting percentage. The Fond du Lac, Wisconsin native earned her first career double-double this season with 14 kills and 10 blocks in a win over St. John’s and totaled a career-high 16 blocks against the Red Storm in October.
Niemann had a record-breaking final season as a Golden Eagles as she now owns MU’s all-time block assists record with 412 and the all-time total blocks record with 454. She is second in career hitting percentage, finishing with a .329 mark. She earns her second AVCA honor after being selected to the East Coast Region team in 2013. The Jackson, Wisconsin native also surpassed 1,000 kills and earned her fourth straight All-BIG EAST First Team selection.
Marquette finished the season with a 23-9 overall record and earned a berth to its sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament.
